A classic near Monte Testaccio

A genuine Rome institution. If you want to sample traditional Roman dishes, this is the place for you. Owned by the same family since the late 19th century, there’s a retro feel to everything inside this historic building.

The best Amatriciana in Rome

Arcangelo Dandini is the fourth generation in a family of chefs, so it’s no wonder perhaps that he’s achieved worldwide fame for his amatriciana. His restaurant in the Prati neighborhood is rustic and welcoming. Pictures of the family hang on the walls, there’s a large wooden bar and warm lighting. Time spent here just flies by.

Modern twist

Sarah Cicolini is the chef and owner of Il Santo Palato. She makes traditional dishes here, but with her own modern twist. Something that’s very much appreciated both by locals from the area around Piazza Tarquinia, who see Il Santo Palato as their second home, and by others who are in the know and have traveled long distances just to try Cicolini’s dishes.
