Roy Fares’ guide to sweet Los Angeles

Celebrity pastry chef Roy Fares introduces us to the sweet goodies of Los Angeles. Here he shares his favorite spots around Los Angeles and explains what’s hot in American baking.

Roy Fares’ two great loves are the sun and pastries. So it’s no surprise to find that his favorite place on earth is California.

Why do you love American pastries so much?

“Mainly because they are so visual. More is more and there is a lot you can play around with. And then I love enhancing the flavors and doing them with a bit more panache.”

Here are Roy’s tips for the most tempting coffee breaks in Los Angeles:

Magnolia Bakery

“Magnolia Bakery started off in New York and has now expanded all over the world, including Los Angeles of course. The TV show Sex and the City made this cupcake chain super famous. When you walk into Magnolia Bakery, you feel like you are entering the home of an American grandmother, with its flowery drapes and pastel colors. They are most famous for their cupcakes, but you should also give their pies a try.”
